"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God..."

- Ephesians 2:8

One Street at a Time

Praying in partnership with fellow believers on a regular basis for those who live and work around us is one of the most powerful and active things we can do.

When Paul tells us to "pray continually" he is reminding us to live in constant recognition of our total dependence on God and the work of His Spirtit. That is the cornerstone of all effective outreach!

Therefore we are asking the congregation to pray for the West Central Neighborhood one street at a time.

Instructions

  1. Pick a street
  2. Write the name of the street on a post-it note and put it where you will see it every day
  3. Get to know your street. Drive down your street before or after church and note what it looks like
  4. Pray every day (or as often as you can) for the people who live and work on your street. If you are a family or a couple pray together
  5. Ask God to work in the lives of the people of your street, so they will come to faith in Christ. Ask God to use the people of Emmanuel to share in the love of Christ with the people on your street. Ask God to keep the people on your street safe and to provide for their needs. Give God thanks for loving and forgiving all people.
  6. Pray for that particular street for one month. Then pick another street
  7. Repeat the above steps with your new street.
