"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God..."

- Ephesians 2:8

Congregational Goal for Discipleship Ministry

We connect and hold each member of the congregation accountable as imitators of Christ.

Discipleship Ministry Purpose Statement
We exist to equip the members of Emmanuel Congregation to build relationships in order to guide and encourage each other to be imitators of Christ in daily living.

Discipleship Impact Ministries: GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The following Impact Ministries, Goals and Objectives reflect Emmanuel’s strategy for discipleship and are listed sequentially to illustrate the desired movement from one stage of the discipleship process to the next.

We intentionally plan for guests and create an environment where each guest will clearly know they have been expected and feel welcomed.

Objectives: The Attract Action Team will…

  1. Recruit, schedule and oversee hostesses and clean-up crew for each Sunday morning’s Moveable Feast and work with congregational groups to adopt the Moveable Feast each Sunday.
  2. Coordinate families and individuals who regularly attend Saturday evening worship to host and bring food for the Second Saturday Soup Supper.
  3. As part of a First Impressions effort, recruit, schedule and oversee Special Sunday Greeters outside in the parking lot to welcome members and guests to our campus and help people know where to park and inside building to direct people to classrooms on:
    1. The first two Sundays of Fall education season.
    2. The ESM Morning and Evening Vespers services.
    3. The 7:00 p.m. Christmas Eve service.
    4. The first Sunday in January back to Sunday school.
    5. The first Sunday of each six-week Bible class term.
    6. All Easter morning worship services.
  4. Develop and implement a plan to intentionally and authentically greet each member and guest within the pews before or after worship.

We intentionally reach out to guests and new members providing opportunities for them to become fully engaged in the ministry of Emmanuel.

Objectives: The Attach Action Team will…

  1. Attend Lutheran Christianity classes to build rapport and relationships with prospective members.
  2. Gather guest information from weekly Friendship Pads and prepare a report for immediate staff follow-up with each guest.
  3. Connect new members to Emmanuel through caring relationships.
  4. Help new members become involved in Bible study and Christian service.
  5. Facilitate a reception during the Moveable Feast for new members where they can become acquainted with the Emmanuel family.
  6. Lead “Who We Are: Our Emmanuel Family” new member classes designed to acquaint participants with the unique culture and rhythms of Emmanuel.

We provide opportunities for members and guests to assimilate into the Emmanuel family through small groups designed to build relationships within the body of Christ.

Objective: The Adhere Action Team will develop a clearly defined process for personal discipleship through small group Bible study.

We intentionally nurture God’s gift of faith by equipping our members for a life of loving service to God and our neighbors.

Objectives: The Abide Action Team will…

  1. Connect each Emmanuel member with opportunities to give and receive care in their families, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, community and church family.
  2. Spur on and encourage others in worship, prayer, and the study of God’s Word.
