Emmanuel Celebrates 150 Years in July!

Block Party – On Wednesday, July 26, we will officially celebrate our 150th Anniversary with a community Block Party. This birthday celebration will feature food, music and fun as we invite our neighbors and church members to mark this special day. The Block Party will take place this year from 6 until 9:00 on the west side of the campus. Help will be needed setting up and tearing down and as hosts throughout the evening. If you would like to volunteer to help with the celebration please contact Sonya Eggold at sreggold@gmail.com.

Anniversary Service – On Sunday, July 30, in the 10:30 service you are invited to attend a special worship service in which we will give thanks to God for 150 years of grace to our congregation. This service will include special music as well as reflections from former pastors including Arnie Piering, Art Klausmeier and Walt Schoedel.

The Moveable Feast – Since the MF has not be adopted by any groups this summer, donations of food items would be greatly appreciated. Your donation(s) can be brought to the church office on Thursday or Friday for the following Sunday, or on Sunday morning before 9:00 a.m. Thank you!

The Moveable FeastPlease join the fellowship on Sunday mornings between services in the gathering area of Ebenezer Hall.  If you have any questions, or if your group would like to adopt the feast, please call or text Sonya Eggold at 414-5246 (sreggold@gmail.com) or Melissa Stout at 348-2023 (stoutclan5@frontier.com).

Cup of Kindness boxes can be found in the Welcome Center. The money contributed in the boxes is distributed by Lutheran Social Services to local families who have crisis needs.

Our “New” Church Nursery – If you have volunteered in Emmanuel’s new church nursery, we appreciate your time!!  If you have not had the opportunity to volunteer but would like to, please contact Pastor Thomas Eggold at taeggold@hotmail.com, Pastor Dan Sheafer at daniel.sheafer@ctsfw.edu or Michele Kausch at kauschmichele@gmail.com.  Volunteers are needed for the rest of July and for the month of August.  Our new nursery space has been a wonderful blessing and is a great way to embrace the young families of Emmanuel.

Emmanuel’s Block Party will be held on Wednesday, July 26, and we are in need of a 20 x 20 awning for the band. If you have one that you are willing to donate for this event, please call Becki at the church office at 423-1369.

Preschool & Daycare for 2017-2018 – We are now enrolling for preschool and childcare for the 2017-2018 school year. We are now on the Paths to Quality (Level 1) and are Brightpoint certified. Please note that due to returning students, some classes fill quickly!

We offer morning preschool classes for children ages 2-5, as well as afternoon and all-day classes for children ages 4-5. We also offer wrap-around daycare for hours before and after preschool from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please call Gwen Kanning at 423-1369, extension 340, for further information or to schedule a tour.

Food Pantry – To meet the needs of those who visit our food bank in July we could use donations of cereal, canned fruit, peanut butter, mac and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, canned juice, deodorant, shampoo, dish and hand soap, toothpaste and paper products, especially toilet paper and paper towels. Food donations can be placed in the “Food Pantry” box located in the Welcome Center. Cash donations may be placed in your church envelope and marked “food pantry” on the “other” line. Members may stop by for food any day when the office is open, and the food pantry will be available for those living in the 46802 zip code area on Thursday, August 17, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the lower level of Ebenezer Hall. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please contact Carolyn Beitz at 432-9189.

Wellspring is in Need of Snacks – Wellspring’s FREE 7-week Summer Day Camp is right around the corner, and could use our help with providing individual snacks for the kids (granola bars, fruit snacks, etc.). With over 300 kids per day, that is A LOT of snacks (costing an estimated $.50-$1.00 per child per day).  Donations can be dropped off at the Emmanuel church office.  Thank you for your support!

Lutherans for Life – “As God called Nehemiah to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls, God has called each one of us to be soldiers in His army to repair our portion of the ‘wall,’ by affirming life and speaking the truth of the Gospel with love to everyone who will listen, with the weapon of God’s Word in one hand and building material, like LFL resources, in the other.” Lynette Auch, president of Lutherans For Life – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • www.lutheransforlife.org
