"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God..."

- Ephesians 2:8

Our “New” Church Nursery – If you have volunteered in Emmanuel’s new church nursery, we appreciate your time!!  If you have not had the opportunity to volunteer but would like to, please contact Pastor Thomas Eggold at taeggold@hotmail.com, Pastor Dan Sheafer at daniel.sheafer@ctsfw.edu or Michele Kausch at kauschmichele@gmail.com.  Volunteers are needed for the rest of July and for the month of August.  Our new nursery space has been a wonderful blessing and is a great way to embrace the young families of Emmanuel.

The Moveable Feast – Since the MF has not be adopted by any groups this summer, donations of food items would be greatly appreciated. Your donation(s) can be brought to the church office on Thursday or Friday for the following Sunday, or on Sunday morning before 9:00 a.m. Thank you!

Part-Time Childcare Worker Needed – Because of an increase in enrollment, Emmanuel Lutheran Preschool and Daycare is in need of a part-time daycare staffer who is flexible with scheduling, loves being with children, and has a passion for sharing the love of Jesus.  This person needs to be able to multi-task, help supervise a mixed age group of children, be able to participate in CPR and 1st Aid training, and to have a drug screen and fingerprint/background check.  If you are interested in applying, please call Gwen Kanning at 423-1369, ext. 237.

Preschool & Daycare for 2017-2018 – Enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year is going well!  We still have some spots available.  We offer morning preschool classes for children ages 2-5, as well as afternoon and all-day classes for children ages 4-5.  We also offer full-time or part-time wrap-around childcare for hours before and after preschool from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Please call Gwen Kanning at 423-1369, extension 340, to get further information or to schedule a tour.

Washington School Supplies - Washington School sits just a few hundred yards from the front door of our church and has one of the highest rates of free and reduced lunch participation in the entire Fort Wayne Community School system. For the last seven years, Emmanuel has extended care to the children and families of Washington by providing their school supplies.  We welcome all of you to participate in this ministry by joining us on Friday, August 11 at 2:15 p.m. when we meet in Ebenezer Hall to parade the supplies we have purchased from Emmanuel to Washington Elementary, and pray for the faculty and families of their school.  Anyone interested in making a monetary donation can do so using their contribution envelopes, making checks payable to Emmanuel and writing Washington School Supplies on the “other” line.

Playdates at Emmanuel! – Mom’s and their little ones are invited to Emmanuel on Fridays, August 11 and 25 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. for playdates and fellowship. Weather permitting; we will meet on the playground behind the school. In the event of rain or cold, we will meet in the Loft. All are welcome, and please feel free to invite a friend! If you have questions, please contact Michele Kausch at kauschmichele@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you and your little ones!

PALS for Washington School - As we celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, we remember that one of the key blessings to come out of that period was an increased access to the Word of God. Now imagine having access to God’s Word, but having limited ability to read and comprehend what you held in your hands. This fall, our church’s PALS after school reading partnership with Washington Elementary will continue into its second year! We are looking for volunteers to assist us in sharing the gift of reading and the Gospel with a child from our community. We will be hosting an hour long training, with two dates to choose from: Wednesday, September 13, or Wednesday, September 20, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The PALS program begins on Wednesday, September 27, and runs each Wednesday through November 15. If you are interested in PALS please contact one of the pastors after church or email Alyssa Bornheimer at stephenalyssa@gmail.com.

Food Pantry – To meet the needs of those who visit our food bank in August we could use donations of cereal, canned fruit, peanut butter, mac and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, canned juice, deodorant, shampoo, dish and hand soap, toothpaste and paper products, especially toilet paper and paper towels. Food donations can be placed in the “Food Pantry” box located in the Welcome Center. Cash donations may be placed in your church envelope and marked “food pantry” on the “other” line. Members may stop by for food any day when the office is open, and the food pantry will be available for those living in the 46802 zip code area on Thursday, August 17, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the lower level of Ebenezer Hall. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please contact Carolyn Beitz at 432-9189.

Lutherans for Life – “As Christians, we have a responsibility to provide comfort to the sick, as we do not want anyone to suffer. That is why we promote work to improve palliative care so doctors will have better means to relieve suffering at life’s end until God calls us home to heaven where there is no suffering. Let us put our trust in Him.” Virginia Flo, Regional Director of Minnesota and National Conference Director for Lutherans For Life – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • www.lutheransforlife.org
