Emmanuel—St. Michael School
Principal

And Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and among men. Luke 2:52

I have served as the principal of Emmanuel—St. Michael School (ESM) since 2007 and my wife, Sarah, and I have led the high school youth group since 2008. Emmanuel’s mission statement is simply, “A caring family, sharing God’s love and forgiveness.”  We love the family that Emmanuel and ESM has become for us.  The staff and families live out that mission as we share in true Christian community.

My father always prayed Luke 2:52 with me.  This is my prayer not just for my own five children, but for the children with whom I’m blessed to serve.  I hope that our ministry equips and nurtures young people to grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and among people so that they are prepared to carry out their vocations in this world and into eternity.

I grew up in southwest Michigan until my family moved to Fort Wayne when I was in middle school.  I attended Lutheran schools in Fort Wayne, which became an important part in realizing my calling to serve as a Lutheran educator myself. Sarah and I were married in 1996 and have five children: Mary, Grace, Nathan, Anna, and Naomi.
